Giffords announces stimulus funds for Oro Valley
Oro Valley is getting $164,200 in federal stimulus money for energy-efficient projects.
Bullhead City is receiving $167,100 under the same program, the office of U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords announced today.
In all, 21 cities and 10 counties in 20 states will benefit from almost $6 million released under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, said Giffords’ spokesman, C.J. Karamargin.
“As someone who has been talking a lot about the need to do more for energy efficiency over the past two-and-a-half years, she is very pleased that these federal stimulus dollars are being put to this purpose,” he said.
Oro Valley will use the money to conduct an energy audit and make more efficient six buildings at its Town Hall complex on North La Cañada Drive and West Naranja Road. The buildings house the town’s administrative, police, utility, courts and development services. The public library also is on the site.
The award is from the Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program.
Earlier this year, Oro Valley received $3 million in federal stimulus funds for road projects.
