Internships

My office is happy to offer an internship program for qualified students. The internship program provides an opportunity for students to learn first hand how a congressional office operates. Interns work closely with my staff to create a team that is accessible and responsive to the constituents of Congressional District 8. Our internship opportunities are unpaid, but I am more than happy to work with students to help earn school credits.

Internships are available in Washington DC, Sierra Vista and Tucson. Both part-time and full-time opportunities are available. Interns perform a variety of duties, including day-to-day administrative work, data entry, answering phones, giving tours of the Capitol, attending legislative meetings or hearings, drafting constituent correspondence, helping constituents work with federal agencies, legislative research, and assisting staff where necessary.

Applications are accepted year round for fall, spring, and summer internships. Please keep in mind that internships are competitive and only a few interns are selected each semester due to office space constraints. The DC office accepts undergraduate and graduate applications. In addition to undergraduate and graduate level applicants, the Tucson Office also has positions available for high school level students. Please mail or fax your application, resume and essay to the appropriate address listed below. Prospective interns will be contacted regarding an interview following a review of credentials. Priority will be given to those who are residents of Arizona’s 8th Congressional District.
